It was once again my privilege to travel to the Philippines. My 2013 trip combined business with pleasure as I visited the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Philippines as a representative of the Caring for All Creation Partnership between their diocese and mine, the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia. I crossed off an item on my “bucket list” by a tour of Corregidor Island in Manila Bay (a major military site during WW II) and visited Santo Tomas University, the site of a Japanese Internment Camp during the Japanese occupation 1941 – 1945.
I traveled to the Episcopal Diocese of Santiago with my own “mission” to offer a website management class for diocesan staff, to participate in the Consecration of their new cathedral, St. Augustine Anglican Cathedral in the Valley, and to renew friendships from my 2009 visit.
Members of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Lakewood, WA helped with financial support for the personal part of my trip. I’m grateful to them and everyone who supported me with money, good wishes, and prayers.
